    Ohio’s 2012 Opiate Summit: Miles Traveled – Miles Ahead

    Over 1,000 individuals attended Ohio’s 2012 Opiate Summit: Miles Traveled – Miles Ahead hosted by OACBHA in partnership with ODADAS and RSC on Monday and Tuesday of this week. The two-day event welcomed a variety of professionals who attended to better understand of the efforts currently underway in addressing the opiate epidemic in Ohio; hear more on the issues that still need to be addressed; and gain new tools and information to take back to local communities to continue to fight this epidemic.

    Governor John Kasich revealed the new Emergency Department guidelines developed by the Governor’s Cabinet Opiate Action Team at a workshop on May 7th. R. Gil Kerlikowske, the Director of the Office of National Drug Control Policy, provided the keynote presentation on May 8th. On Tuesday, individuals heard from a number of leading experts, including ODADAS Director Orman Hall, Former Attorney General and current special advisor to the Governor Betty Montgomery, Senior Assistant Attorney General Aaron Haslam and others about the ongoing efforts to address the opiate epidemic.
